Trauma can be a specific experience or repeated experiences over time that shape who we are, how we think, and our reactions/responses. Those experiences impact our relationship with ourselves and others. At some point we may ask ourselves if showing up in those ways serves us anymore. We may begin to question if how we are showing up aligns with the values that are most important to us.
Absolutely. You don't need to be certain about having trauma to benefit from trauma therapy. We can use less intensive, trauma-informed approaches instead of trauma-specific modalities like EMDR or TF-CBT, ensuring the therapy is still beneficial for you.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a well-researched and effective psychotherapy method that helps people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Research shows that EMDR is also beneficial for treating anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing experiences. An EIP stands for an emotionally immature parent/person. These individuals may show narcissistic traits, though not always to a pathological extent. If you were raised by an EIP or have close relationships with them, it can significantly impact your self-esteem, core beliefs, and internal narratives. Repeated exposure to such individuals, who struggle to regulate or express emotions healthily, can contribute to or worsen symptoms of relational trauma.
Currently, I am not in-network with any insurance providers. However, I can provide superbills upon request, which may help you get reimbursed through out-of-network benefits. I also offer sliding scale spots for those facing financial hardship and payment plans for EMDR intensives to reduce upfront costs. Feel free to ask any questions to find solutions that minimize financial stress. My rates are $185 for a 55-minute individual session and $215 for a 55-minute relational session. Specialized rates for EMDR and relational intensives are available upon request based on your needs and goals.
Then I will help you find the one that is! Therapy is a relationship between two (or more) people. Relationships require compatibility and safety. If the fit is not aligned then it is difficult to show up to the space in a vulnerable way.
